The moment you stop driving without using your brain: the importance of coaching sessions

FROM THE raceBOX
There are drivers who get on the simulator looking for the limit straight away. They push, they force it, they chase the lap time from the very first corner. And they're often the same ones who struggle the most to improve.
This approach is very common, among both drivers and enthusiasts. But it rarely leads to real growth. To truly improve, passion, adrenaline and eagerness are not enough. You need to drive with your head, not just your heart.
And that's exactly where the real work begins.
The right mindset before you even get in the simulator

During our motorsport driving courses and coaching sessions, one of the most fundamental aspects is the mindset you bring when you sit down at the simulator. Accepting that you're human, that you'll make
mistakes, and that building speed takes time is what separates a random session from a training session with a purpose.
The problem isn't speed. The problem is the need to prove something to yourself, or to whoever is watching how you take corners and where you brake.
In motorsport, humility isn't weakness. It's the ability to recognise that there's still something you're not seeing. And recognising that is already half the work.
What changes during a coaching session
Driving aimlessly and driving with a purpose produce completely different results. In the first case you accumulate mileage, but not experience. In the second, every corner becomes a piece of information, every braking point a data point to analyse.
In our coaching sessions, this is exactly what we work on: turning a generic session into a structured training programme. We identify weaknesses, set micro-goals for each outing, and analyse the data at the end of the session. Not to find fault, but to find margins.
Because that tenth you're losing in a corner isn't the car's fault. It's you. And that's what matters — because it means you can improve.
The turning point
There's a precise moment that everyone who spends time at the Lab eventually knows. It's not when you set your best lap time. It's when you stop chasing the time and start understanding why some laps are better than others.
From that point on, improvement becomes consistent, measurable, real.
We can give you the tools, the method and the direction. But the moment you truly start to grow always begins with a choice. The one you make in your head, before you even touch the wheel.
