The phrases we hear most often

FROM THE raceBOX

Within the Lab's walls, there are no right or wrong questions. After years of working, we've realized that certain questions always come up. Some more technical, others less so. But they all reveal something about the person asking them.

The first day

"Is it like video games?"

It depends . If you mean you can crash and drive away without the car or your body being affected, then no, not really. The body perceives much more than you expect. The simulator replicates the damage.

"How long does it take to go fast?"

It depends on how slow you're willing to go at first. Those who build slowly always make the fastest progress.

Those who arrive with certainties

"I already have experience, can I skip the basics?"

You can. But drivers with more real-world experience are often the first to want to understand every detail. They know how important it is to start from the right place. Real experience teaches humility.

"Do I really need to train? I thought driving was enough..."

Driving and training aren't the same thing. You can go a thousand kilometers without improving a tenth if you don't know what you're doing.

"If I'm fast on the track, I should already be good on the simulator, right?"

Sometimes yes. Often no. The simulator removes the shortcuts. What's left is driving skill, pure and simple.

The most personal ones

"Do you think I could do karting at 40 years old?"

Yes. And you'd probably be surprised. Age changes some things, but it doesn't change the ability to read a trajectory. If the question is "where do I start," then you're in the right place.

"My son is fast, how can I tell if he's really good?"

Speed is only part of the picture. What we look for is something else: how they react to mistakes, how they listen, how they behave when things don't go well. Talent is immediately visible, but we can build character.

"I've never driven in my life, am I late?"

No. Those who arrive with no bad habits to correct sometimes learn faster than those who must first unlearn what they already know.

We've heard some of these phrases thousands of times. But behind each one, there's always the same thing: someone wanting to know if there's room for them. And the answer, almost always, is yes.
